We're counting on you to help 'Red Tails' make box office history this opening weekend: January 20 - 22
Hollywood Wouldn't Fund 'Red Tails' because of Black Cast.
George Lucas said, "There's no major white roles in it at all...
I
showed it to all of Hollywood and they said no.
We don't know how to market a movie like this."
In short, It's an all black movie and it won't make any money!
Lucas is worried that if Red Tails is a failure, it could have negative repercussions for black filmmakers; It'll be harder to break out of that
(lower-budget) mold. Thus it will keep the image of blacks off the screen
for many years to come.
"I wanted to make an inspirational movie for teenage boys. I wanted to show them they have real patriot heroes that made America what it is today. I realize that by accident, I've now put the black film community at risk." - George Lucas
Grab your family and friends and run to the box office this weekend.
It's not just a movie.. it's a movement!
Let's make sure it's a movement in the right direction!
