STCC Book Club will once again be attending the Romance Slam Jam event.  This is an event that focuses on honoring some of our best Black authors in America.  Anyone can attend the event and all are encouraged to.  This event is a great opportunity for our members who speak on the phone every month to actually meet up in-person and have a blast.  

The 2016 Romance Slam Jam Conference in Detroit will have several reader and book club sessions. STCC Book Club will again feature a session. We will feature Ruby Lassiter’s Story by Iris Bolling. This novel is still in the development stage with the author, but is scheduled to be released in time for this event.

Iris has a series called the Gems and Gents. This series is about the 12 children of Joe and Sally Lassiter. And hot off the press in 2016 will be Ruby Lassiter’s Story. This novel is about the oldest daughter and the 6th book in the Gems and Gents series. The 2016 Romance Slam Jam (RSJ) in Detroit, MIchigan  has the honor of authors Elaine Overton and Karen White-Owens accepting the torch to serve as host authors for the RSJ event.  “Save the date” and mark your calendars for April 28 – April 30, 2016 to travel to DET.  In addition, the keynote speaker for this years event will be no other than Historical Romance writer, Beverly Jenkins.  And as always, the Emma Awards will also transpire and crop up a group of new literary winners during the event.  For more information about the winners of the the 2015 Emma Awards and the 2016 RSJ event, visit romanceslamjam.org
